A few random things

1. I think commenter “Jeffrey” was right about the Reader Perspectives thing (where I put up articles that you guys have written for us about the subject of gaming journalism)…it’s probably too much now. My original plan was to post five of these, mainly because there were so many awesome submissions, I had trouble narrowing them down. Five was my compromise from 20. But yeah…overkill. So we’ll leave it at the three we put up already:

#1 by Patrick Ray

#2 by Bobby Davis

#3 by Chelsea Thompson

Sorry to the rest of you guys and girls who took the time to write something. It was honestly good stuff overall!

(By the way…#4 was going to be Cody Winn, and #5 I hadn’t decided yet between Anderson Nichols and Spencer Gregory. And there are way too many other people to name as runners-up, but please feel free to post your links in the comments below.)

2. No more Google Ads for this blog. I made some joke a while back about readers helping us out by clicking on those for us, and apparently, that’s a giant no-no to the Skynet folks…so we’re banned. The frustrating thing is, they sent me a warning first and gave me three days to fix the specific incident. I removed that reference within a day, but then on day two…the ban hammer drops. I didn’t even get the three days that they offered in the first place! (They said that our site still poses “significant risk” to their clients. Say…none of you have set up an ad clicking bot, have you?)

Oh well. No free Denny’s dinner for Crispin and me (that was where were were planning on celebrating our meager earnings here). Maybe we can sneak in on a senior citizen discount, though. Yeah, we can look into another ad network, but it’s just so much trouble for how (not) ambitious this site is! Google Ads was an easy thing for me to set up….

But regardless, thanks to all of you who were trying to support us. It’s my fault for jokingly encouraging this in the first place.

3. If you like crazy, ranting madmen, here are a couple of links for you to check out:

X-Play’s Adam Sessler on The New Yorker

The Fukerton, a manly man’s blog by Chad Dukes of The Big O and Dukes Show (on which I’m a semi-regular guest). He (along with radio partner Oscar Santana) is one of the most frank, most tell-it-like-it-is guys you’ll ever know. Don’t tell him you like Animal Crossing, or he’ll tear you three new ones.
